Grilled Cheese & Stove Safety
When cooking at the stove, staying safe is of the utmost importance. We show how beginner cooks can safely learn to use the stove while demoing a simple grilled cheese recipe. We’ve included a list of stove safety tips below.
Stove safety tips:
Always pay attention while cooking especially when using the stove.
Don’t touch stove burners that might be hot or put anything on them that’s not heat-proof. Always assume the stove burners are on or hot unless you KNOW they are not.
Turn pot and pan handles inward over the counter so handles don’t get bumped into when people walk by.
Pull back hair and loose sleeves.
Use a potholder when grabbing pot handles or lids.
Be careful when adding food to a hot pan.
When adding or moving food in a pot or pan, steady it by holding the handle.
When done cooking, turn off the burner. Move hot pans off the hot burners to cool faster.
