Candied Nuts Video
Candied nuts are such a great treat around the holidays. They’re fairly healthy and only take 10 minutes to make. And oops, we made a mistake in the video. We added 1/2 tablespoon of brown sugar, but we should have added 1 1/2 tablespoons of brown sugar. It was still yummy but did need a bit more sugar. The below written recipe includes the correct measurements! Hope you enjoy!
Candied Nuts Recipe
Ingredients:
1 1/2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons water
1/4 teaspoon vanilla
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
1/8 teaspoon cayenne (optional)
1 cup pecan or walnut halves
Directions:
In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, water, vanilla, salt, cinnamon (if using), and cayenne (if using).
Stir to combine. Set this aside, at-the-ready, as this recipe goes really quickly.
In a skillet over medium heat, toast nuts for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally to prevent burning. When you begin to smell a lovely, nutty aroma, they're done.
Quickly drizzle the sugar mixture into the pan, on top of the nuts, stirring the nuts as you drizzle. Stir constantly for about 15 seconds, until the nuts are thoroughly coated in the sugar mixture. Immediately remove from heat so they don't burn.
Carefully spread the nuts on a piece of parchment to cool.
Once cooled, you can break the nuts apart, if needed.
The nuts might be slightly sticky at first, but the coating hardens further within a few hours.
